About My Best Audiobooks

Me

Hi, I'm Mel. I love reading, and I love audiobooks. My favorite genre is literary fiction, and I often choose something from small presses. I like European and translated fiction, but I also read other genres. Sometimes I’m in the mood for SFF, psychological thriller, horror, historical fiction, and some others. I like to read different genres, so you will find something else here, too.

My blog usually contains new titles before or right after their publication. I receive advanced copies from various publishers and write reviews on my blog My Best Audiobooks, Goodreads, and The StoryGraph. So if you want to know what's new, check my latest reviews.

Currently, I'm accepting review requests only from authors that I enjoyed before.

My Best Audiobooks blog

The point of this blog is simple: to recommend audiobooks I enjoyed. I don't write detailed reviews, my reviews are usually short. Each review contains a few sentences for the summary and my opinion. I try to write just the key points and, when I can, spoiler-free.

Here, on my blog, are only those audiobooks I truly enjoyed. Audiobooks I didn't like or didn't finish are not here. Because this website includes only the audiobooks I enjoyed and I would recommend. Or, My Best Audiobooks. Enjoy!

You can find here all the titles sorted in alphabethical order.

*I received an advanced copy of a lot of audiobooks reviewed here. I am very grateful to all the publishers who made this blog possible!

My Rating System

When I rate audiobooks, I rate two components:

  • content: quality of the story, writing, or content of the book
  • narration: quality of narration, accents, extra sounds, and how voice suits the content

Rating explained:

💙💙💙💙💙 - excellent, I loved it
💙💙💙💙 - very good, I enjoyed it
💙💙💙 - I liked it, I finished it, but I didn't enjoy it much or it was nothing new or special
💙💙 - I didn't like it, there were quite a few things that didn't meet my expectations
💙 - I hated it, couldn't stand that, probably even didn't finish it

But here on my blog you will find rates mostly 💙💙💙💙, and 💙💙💙💙💙. Some 💙💙💙. Because on this blog, I post only the reviews of audiobooks that I truly enjoyed.

Genres

I review a wide range of genres: fiction and nonfiction. I review audiobooks for all ages: children, middle-grade, YA, and adult.

Categories for younger readers:

  • Children's fiction & nonfiction is usualy for children under 8,
  • Middle-grade are audiobooks for ages between 8 and 12, but I'm sure there are also older readers of this genre out there,
  • Young Adult (YA) refers to audiobooks for ages roughly between 12 and 18, but more often, I would recommend those for ages above 14. It depends on the genre and theme.

These categories might not always be the same for books and audiobooks because reading age is not always the same as listening age.
