Excerpt from the Book:

With this emotional continuity between humans and animals in mind, we should stop thinking that hippopotamus who saved a wildebeest from a crocodile was behaving in a "human-like" way. Whatever emotion might motivate a hippopotamus to behave this way - maternal protectiveness, empathetic concern, or something else - the emotion is one that is likely experienced by many animals, not just by humans.

So as you read the following stories - about animals acting in ways that seem motivated by empathy, compassion, altruism, and other emotions that we associate with our highest human virtues - I hope you will consider the possibility that what's best about our human natures just might be our animal natures.

My Thoughts:

When Animals Rescue is another audiobook about animal behavior by Belinda Recio. I recently reviewed Inside Animal Hearts and Minds. This audiobook contains a wonderful collection of stories from the animal world, where different animals rescue humans or other species. Not just dogs help, as someone might think. Also other animals are capable of such behavior, like bears, whales, and dolphins. I would recommend this audiobook to all who like animals.

Another good narration by Hayden Panettiere, star of Hero series.
