Every one of us is like the pieces of a puzzle. Each one unique and with our own special place where only we can fit, and without every one of us, the picture wouldn’t be complete.
Exerpt from the Book:
A group of boys sat on the front steps, laughing and joking around. They acted like they owned the place and everyone knew it. I pictured all my friends sitting around like that on the first morning of the new school year and wondered if they missed me as much as I missed them. I squeezed past the boys to reach the front door. Just as I pulled it open, I hear one say, »Hey, guys, take a look at the goof with the teddy bear.« The rest of them sniggered. I looked back, dreading what I'd see – and sure enough, it was Bennie. Geez! Why did Mom let him bring his ratty old Binkie Bear to school?
»Hi, Wart,« Bennie yelled at me, waving his bear happily. »Wait up.«
Ignoring him, I ducked into the school and hurried toward room 5. My heart was beating like a drum roll and I was out of breath. I felt a little bad for ditching my brother, but at the same time I hoped no one knew he was calling to me.
My Thoughts:
The Jigsaw Puzzle King is a heartwarming story about eleven-year-old Warren, whose twin brother has Down Syndrome. Warren always plays with him and accompanies him everywhere. He is tired of the constant looks and remarks that people say about his brother Benny. For once, he wants to live like he doesn't have a brother with a disability.About the Author:
