Book excerpt:
"Can you imgine a millipede the size of a person? Or a sea scorpion that is bigger than your outstreched arms? If, like me, you are not sure that this is a world for you, then be grateful you were not alive 300 million years ago. Welcome to the Carboniferous Period.
How insects learned to fly is still a mystery. Experts think it probably had something to do with the arrival of tall plants and trees. Wouldn't it make sense for an insect to develop little wing flaps to jump or glide from one tree to another? That they wouldn't have to climb all the way down and then up again. Graduatlly the wing flaps would have grown larger. Finally insects could glide, dive, and flap their wings."
My Thoughts:
Absolutely Everything! is a history audiobook for children where the author explains the history of almost everything. We learn about important things that happened in the very distant and less distant past. Everything is in this audiobook, from the big bang, the origin of life, dinosaurs, to great civilizations, conquistadors, and much more.
Primarily written for children, but it is suitable for ages 7 - 107, as the description claims. I would say it is great for adults also. Written in an understanding way and narrated in a fun and engaging voice of the author - well-known Christopher Lloyd. I enjoyed this a lot, and I would recommend it to all curious children and adults.
